New entertainment phones from Sony: Xperia ion and Xperia neo L
Sony further expands its Xperia products with the launch of Sony Xperia ion and Sony Xperia neo L, which are positioned as “entertainment” smartphones. The new Xperia phones, already running on Android Ice Cream Sandwich, will be available this month with suggested retail price of P30,990 for the Sony Xperia Ion and P P12,490 for the Sony Xperia L.
Sony differentiates its Android smartphones by incorporating features that allow the users to use the phone as an entertainment device, beyond the usual smartphone capabilities.
According to Sony executives during the launching of Sony Xperia ion and Sony Xperia neo L, the two new Xperia models “promise to take mobile entertainment to a new level and give consumers the ultimate mobile experience with large screens and unrivaled Sony technologies.”
These Sony technologies include Mobile Bravia Engine for high definition images, X-Loud for crisper sounds and Exmor R for exceptional photos even in dark environments like bars and restaurants. The handsets are also equipped with fun features like Facebook Inside for an easy, fast and fuss-free social networking experience, and Track ID that allows a user to record and identify the title of a song.
According to Patrick Larraga, Head of Mobile Business for Sony Philippines, mobile phone use has significantly changed as consumers now use the phone not just for communication but as an entertainment device.
Larraga says mobile phone use now includes Internet browsing, social networking, watching movies and videos and listening to music on their mobiles. In addition, phone users also take their own photos and videos and share these with friends and family using these devices as well.
Music-on-the-go: Sony Xperia neo L has xLoud technology
The new Xperia neo L boasts of a larger 4” display, a 5MP back camera which records 720p HD video, a front facing camera for video chat. Xperia neo L is preloaded with Google Talk for easy video chat between smartphones, tablets and PCs using the front facing camera.
The Sony Xperia neo L is available in either black and white. This successor to the Sony Xperia neo V also features a sleek and stylish design highlighted a curved back and glossy finish. Similar to Sony Xperia neo V, the Sony Xperia neo L also incorporates Sony’s xLoud technology for crisp and loud sound.

Meanwhile, Sony’s high-end Android smartphone the Sony Xperia features a stunning 4.6” HD display that provides a visually brilliant viewing experience with razor sharp clarity. For photo enthusiasts, Xperia ion features a 12 MP camera and fast capture to take the impressive high resolution images with a little over a second with a single key press.
Photos can then be easily and wirelessly shared on any screen – TV, laptop or tablet, with just one touch using DLNA connectivity. Additionally, both rear- and front-facing cameras deliver HD recording capabilities.
