Samsung Electronics Co., LTD, which gained the No. 1 market share in mobile phones globally both in volume and value in 2011 with the “Galaxy” branded handsets as its main moneymaker, has launched its flagship and “game changing” smartphone the Galaxy S III yesterday at NBC Tent in Bonifacio Global City.

Described by Samsung Philippines officials as the “most intuitive smartphone ever,” the third generation Galaxy S series pushes the boundaries of innovation in smartphone design by having intelligent features that respond to human nature.
For example, the Galaxy S III automatically gets into sleep mode when it recognizes the user has fallen asleep while reading a book or document; or when the user reads a message and puts the phone near his ears, the phone automatically makes a call to the message sender.
“A phone that understands you, waits till you fall asleep, sees your best side, lets you do two things at once, and shares what’s in your heart—that is the Samsung Galaxy S III”—this, in a nutshell is Galaxy S III according to the promotional material.

With the Galaxy S III, along with its other electronic consumer devices such as Smart TV ES8000 and Smart Camera WB150F, Samsung is paving the way for smart connected devices that also feature intuitive intelligence such that they can communicate with the user via gesture or voice commands or initiate faster transfer and sharing of data among devices.

With its mission to use technology to make better lives, Samsung is looking at the future of homes as having smart connected intelligent devices. Tech analysts have always predicted that key products to make that happen are the TV and the smartphone. Galaxy S III and all the wonderful things it can do are just the starting point of the future of the digital age our children now will inherit.

Other key features of the Galaxy S III:

S Beam—an NFC (near field communication) powered feature that allows a 1GB video file to be shared within three minutes and a 10MB audio file within two seconds by simply putting two GALAXY S III phones back to back, even without a Wi-Fi or cellular signal.

Smart Stay—the phone’s camera can literally look you in the eye and able to notice if you’re not looking at the display or reading a document anymore and when it does, the phone’s display automatically goes to sleep or idle mode to save on battery.

S Voice—this is a feature that is present in Smart TV ES8000. With this feature on Galaxy S III, the user can literally tell the phone to snooze when it alarms. The advanced natural language user interface listens and responds to your words. The S Voice feature can also be used to play your favorite songs, send text messages, organize your schedules, browse the web or automatically launch an application.

‘AllShare Play’ –which is present in previous Galax SII is made more efficient in Galaxy S III as it now allows instant sharing of any forms of files between GALAXY S III and your tablet, PC, and television regardless of the distance between the devices.

‘Pop up play’ allows you to play a video anywhere on your screen while simultaneously running other tasks, eliminating the need to close and restart videos when checking new emails, surfing the Web, texting, and chatting with friends. Plus, with a 4.8” HD Super AMOLED display, the GALAXY S III offers a large and vivid viewing experience in HD.

Burst shot and 8MP camera–Galaxy S III’s camera now features a zero-lag shutter speed that lets you capture moving objects easily without delay. In addition the ‘Burst shot’ function instantly captures twenty continuous shots (3.3 frames per second), and automatically selects best of eight photographs for you.

“The phone is designed to be both effortlessly smart and intuitively simple, the GALAXY S III has been created with our human needs and capabilities in mind.” Says JK Shin, President and Head of IT & Mobile Communications of Samsung Electronics.

The Samsung GALAXY S III will be available in the Philippines starting June 1. SRP is P32,990.
