After Galaxy Note 3 and the big buzz about its phablet-defining innovations, Samsung has now moved its attention to the bigger screen Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, which now boasts of the key features found in Galaxy Note 3, such as Air Command.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 features a WQXGA Super Clear LCD (2560×1600) resolution, which tech experts say is the better screen than a retina display. The new resolution is also four times than that of the first Galaxy Note 10.1.
The internal specs have also been improved, with a 1.9 GHz A15 Quad Core + 1.3 A7 Quard Core processor and 3GB RAM now powering the device.
It is also thinner and lighter and more stylishly high-end looking business tool, adapting the design of the Galaxy Note 3—from the leather-like backside highlighted by stitching down to the metal framing.
The new Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition comes in three different flavors–a Wi-Fi-only version and a 3G-enabled model, both powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 5 Octa chipset, as well as an LTE-capable tablet with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 800 chipset ticking inside.
However, the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 that will be available in the Philippines is the Wi-Fi only version and it will retail for P25,990.
The improved Galaxy Note 10.1 2013 Edition is being positioned as a business tool and not just for creative people who want to draw or paint their ideas on the fly. It is the first Android tablet to feature Knox security solution, which enables the device to have a layer security similar to creating a secured profile in a Windows environment, according to Raffy Gutierrez of Samsung Electronics Philippines.
The Knox solution is both a hardware and a software ensuring that your files won’t be accessed by other people. “This is one of the best features. Even if you give the tablet to a member of your family, which is what’s really happening, you won’t worry about your work files getting accessed or accidentally deleted.”
Here are similar features of the the Galaxy Note 10.1 with Galaxy Note 3:
1. As the “bigger” brother of the Galaxy Note 3, the tablet also features multi windows and multi tasking.
2. With Multi Window, users will be able to run separate instances of the same application, and use an enhanced S Pen to drag and drop content from one window to another. Pen Window enables users to simply draw a window of any size on the screen and a new window will pop containing applications such as YouTube or calculator.
3. The tablet also includes Galaxy Note 3’s updated S Pen features such as Action Memo, Scrapbook, Screen Write, S Finder and Pen Window. Combined with the tablet’s larger screen, these enhanced S Pen capabilities present users with unique creative opportunities using a bigger space.
4. The new Scrapbook capabilities allows users can easily indicate any interesting content with the S Pen and organize it into individualized scrapbooks, creating a log of discussion points for a future work conversation, a wish list for new clothes or a home redesign project, or a personal favorites list.
5. S Note has been upgraded with a more intuitive, easy-to-use interface. Users will have access to both note files and notepads, with the ability to use the S Pen to take handwritten notes.
6. The Samsung Content Gifts include content from leading news sources such as Bloomberg Businessweek+, The New York Times, Autodesk Sketchbook for GALAXY for painting and sketching, a redesigned version of social broadcast network Twitter optimized for the device, and much more.
Both Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition and the Galaxy Note 3 have similar build, design and features, but the former lacks NFC functionality.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) will come in WiFi Only, available in 16 GB + Micro SD up to 64 GB. Comes with two color options, Jet Black and Classic White, the GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) will be offered globally and will be available starting from November 8, 2013.
