Local mobile brand Cherry Mobile launched the MAIA series, which include the most affordable smartphone and a tablet powered by Intel Atom X3, Intel’s first integrated communications system-on-chip (SoC) platform for entry and value tablets, phablets and smartphones, available in 4G LTE and 3G versions.
This cost-effective platform already includes the image sensor processor (ISP), graphics, audio, video, connectivity, and power management components required for flexible solutions with an optimal combination of value and mobile features.
Intel Philippines country manager Calum Chisolm said the chipmaker’s partnership with Cherry Mobile, which is the largest smartphone vendor in the Philippines, will further expand Intel’s mobile technology to the masses who are seeking affordable smartphones packed with rich mobile experience.
Chisolm said there are currently 35 million Filipinos who are using the Internet on their mobile devices, mostly social media. But with the 100 million population, a lot is still needed to bring the mobile technology to more Filipinos.
