Lenovo launched ThinkBook, a new sub brand of laptop that shares some features of the ThinkPad, Lenovo’s premium business-grade durable laptop with security features catering to the needs of big enterprises.
ThinkBook was developed with some of the durability features found in the legendary ThinkPad line including protection from water spills, extreme temperature, and vibrations. Its zinc-alloy hinge has powdered-metal technology to endure 25,000 open-and-close cycles, and it’s coated with both indium and stannum to enhance resistance to corrosion.
The new lineup of ThinkBook launched in the Philippines includes the ThinkBook 13S, which already features a sleek, magnesium-infused aluminum finish, a 13.3” FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS antiglare display with less than 5.55mm thin bezels (almost edge-to-edge screen), and Dolby Vision high dynamic range technology (for increased brightness, expanded contrast, accurate color, and more refined detail to images).
ThinkBook 13S two variants
ThinkBook 13S comes in two variants, one powered by AMD RADEON 540X graphics with Windows 10 Home OS and 2-Year Carry-in Warranty and is worth PHP 54,990; while the other variant will come out with Integrated Intel UHD 620 on Unified Memory Architecture (UMA) graphics, Windows 10 Pro OS, and 1-Year Carry-in Warranty and is worth PHP 58,990.
Both will run on an 8th Gen Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB onboard memory, and 512GB M.2 PCIe SSD storage which enables instantaneous response from programs. For uninterrupted business, Lenovo equipped the device with a battery life of 11 hours and the Rapid Charge feature which fuels the battery up to 80% in just an hour of charging.
Michael Ngan, Lenovo Philippines country manager, said the new ThinkBook will be available in Lenovo stores and sold alongside Lenovo consumer products—unlike ThinkPad, which is available to enterprise customers and if consumers want one—they have to first make an order.
Ngan also emphasized on the price of the new ThinkBook, which is relatively cheaper than a ThinkPad, but shares a lot of features with Lenovo’s premium business laptop.
“We’re all familiar with the ThinkPad, the legendary ThinkPad. The ThinkBook is an offshoot from the Think lineup. It’s a crossover from commercial laptop to a consumer laptop.”
“Lenovo has been in the forefront of technology. For six consecutive quarters, we took the Number One PC position worldwide. Just recently in the Philippines, we’re the No 1 PC in the last quarter.”
SME 4P distribution manager of Lenovo Philippines Francis Judan said the ThinkBook caters to the new generation of workforce who are mobile and engage in collaborative work outside of the office. He added the digital transformation of workforce in the country has encouraged workers to be mobile resulting in work areas ditching desktops in favor of laptops.
Judan said the new generation of workforce are more productive if they have the right kind of tools at their disposal. “New devices bring productivity to this generation. They want stylized laptops. They want the right kind of tools to stay connected at all times.”
“Through the high performance and elegance of the ThinkBook, businesses will have an edge in attracting tech-savvy millennials and Gen Z workers who grew up working, creating, and communicating online with stylish and premium devices. Lenovo helps companies create a more productive workplace as the young employees, who are already competent in leveraging technology, can now work to their fullest knowing that their demands of flexibility, power, and aesthetics are fulfilled,” said Ngan.
The ThinkBook 13S also comes with preloaded features helpful for businesses such as the Lenovo Vantage, which offers tools for preventive hardware diagnostics, personalized hardware settings, and auto-install of critical updates, and Lenovo Migration Assistant, a free application that helps users migrate all user files and settings when upgrading systems. It also has a 30-day trial of the entire Microsoft Office suite of productivity tools.
Another feature the ThinkBook 13S has is an enterprise-level security and support, which is a key ThinkPad notebook feature.
ThinkBook 13S is installed with ThinkShield security suite that contains features such as the Smart Power On fingerprint recognition for device access, FIDO (Fast Identity Online) security for safer online authentication, and discrete Trusted Platform Module (dTPM 2.0) encryption capabilities that encrypt and store device user credentials on a separate chip for added security. For physical security, the ThinkBook 13S has a ThinkShutter webcam cover.
In addition, users of the ThinkBook 13S can enjoy business-grade support services such as Premium Support that provides direct access to skilled and experienced Lenovo technicians who can deliver comprehensive hardware and software support.
This also includes next business day onsite support, wherein Lenovo IT experts will personally troubleshoot any problems and provide further solutions on premises.
The ThinkBook 13s will be available in Lenovo Exclusive Stores located at SM North EDSA, SM Mall of Asia, and SM Megamall; as well as Thinking Tools SM City Cebu.
